Eating out in Malaysia
Frankly, I’m getting a little tired of:
* playing blind to the very clean and hygienic surrounds (not!);
* playing deaf to shouting, clanging and clattering as background “music” to a very conducive (not) dining environment;
* forgetting that I have a sense of smell and not retching when the wind blows my way from the dumpsite/clogged drain/cooking area;
* ignoring the methodical and hygienic (not) processes involved in cleaning cutlery and crockery;
* suffering the lack of a non-smoking area;
* having to watch where I put my hands because the table is wet, sticky, greasy, or all of the above;
* having to watch my feet because a cockcroach, rat, or some other vermin might decide to just run across them;
if it’s not the above then:
* uncomfortable chairs and tables;
* being annoyed by bad service despite the exhorbitant prices and the service charge;
* abstaining from complaining about paying MYR60 for a meal and still having to serve myself;
* yet again playing deaf but now to the very noisy environment because the hard walls and surfaces reverberate and reflect sound instead of absorbing it;
* not having a cool (as in temperature) atmosphere because dining “al fresco” has become the “in”-thing.

so, going on a fast? :p
I KNEW there was a reason why I ate McDonald’s!
*tongue-in-cheek*
at least the food is *good*! have you forgotten london’s (and most of northern europe’s) exorbitant prices for desperately mediocre fare? service in the lowlands (and further..?) is still a brand new concept, unless you pay through your teeth for it. wanna swop sweetie?!
Where did u eat lah??
Get out from Malaysia lah stupid…
Jikon, that is Malaysia ’style’ meh … up to us to choose whether we want to makan there or not ….
This post was prompted by a less than happy visit to my “usual” chinese gerai on a less than “happy” day when I had a migraine coming on. The fact that I was forced to sit next to the washing area, because the place was full, didn’t help. Not to mention the fact that the washer-guy decided to play with their metal serving dishes, dropping them again, and again, and again, and again…
I actually quite like going to McDonald’s. The price-value relation works out quite well there, all things considered. For me at least.
Get out from Malaysia? I’m going to Singapore next week. Can’t wait…
you having migraine as well? i kena again this morning after it had disappeared for about a year already, probably has to with the empty stomach filled in with only vienna black coffee and hot caramel coffee, and only to have ‘dinner’ at 10.30 eating capati with God knows how long has the curry been there at the kitchen. and then having an all nighter blogging (and doing housekeeping on the site) until four in the morning.
yep, couldn’t agree more with you on the hygienic level of most restaurant in town. the thing that bothers me the most is that how come our drain (longkang) can’t be covered. it’s filthy to eat and see the longkang bare open with that dirty water and rubbish everywhere.
the city hall or the local government or the ministry in charge should improve the situation.
you are such a whinner. maybe you should stay in singapore!
1. It is spelled whiner - one ‘n’.
2. If you’re going to make personal criticisms, at least have the courage to own up and not hide behind anonimity.
By the way, I gather you meant “anonymous” and not “annoymous” which is not a word in the English language, although of course, that’s not to say that you can’t very well use “annoymous” as a pseudonym.
They say it’s the dirt that makes it taste nice mate.
And frankly I agree with that saying.
