Another trip
I like what Cainer had to say for me today (which I quote in full):
Fairy stories have a lot to answer for. They lead us to believe, at an impressionable age, that dreams can come true with the wave of a magic wand. Later in life, our expectations swing to the opposite extreme. We figure that dreams just don?t ever come true and we had better wise up to that fact. Yet actually, they do. It?s just that first, we have to put in an awful lot of work. Sometimes, too, we have to go through experiences that we might far prefer to avoid. You have nearly paid your price. Your reward is on the way.
Yippee! We could always do with some of that good loving and living.
This has been a funny week. I’ve been very tied up with a visitor the last three days - the hours have been long but it has fortunately not been terribly tedious. My overall mood has lifted - some of you will remember my very morose state of mind the last two months - though I did take a detour from the path to eternal peace and tranquility. Fortunately, things are winding down again because…
I’m off to Singapore this evening after work for an extended weekend. I’m quietly excited about it even if it’s only about the prospect of getting away to be alone in a strange city doing nothing more than typing away on my iPaq, reading novels and drinking coffee. I really enjoyed my last trip there and I’m therefore quite optimistic about this one too. I’ll finally have the opportunity this time to have a real conversation with a close friend whom I’ve known since I was a wee seven years old. I do think I need this trip though the underlying reason for it is no longer as pressing or obvious.
Thus, I am taking a break from life. From this blog. From the mundane and familiar. I shall return perhaps the same. Perhaps different. Who knows.
Trips are good things and yet not good things, both at the same time. They are great as means for a process to happen. A trip facilitates the mind, body and soul to evolve. Alas, no one can ever describe for certain the result of that evolution. More importantly, whatever the product of that process, it will not necessarily be equally welcome by everyone. Some of us may find change to be less than evolutionary.

hv a good trip in singapore! if u hv time, drop by to hear my cousin play. yeah, free advertising blah blah blah. http://www.ublues.com . they’re actually quite good.
gosh it’s been a long time i’ve been to a trip. due to go back home at da end of the month. then again, might anticipate a trip to KL sometime in Oct/Nov to get US visa done and that’s only IF ticket prices to US for December are out. i swear the travel agents in kuching is killing me.
this is what cainer said about me
Rocket science? A piece of cake. Brain surgery? No problem. If you really want to pit yourself against something difficult, try learning to want what you can actually have. Now that?s tricky. We spend our whole lives pining for the apparently unattainable. The more remote, unlikely, or impossible an objective is, the more we lust after it. And no matter how wonderful, how ideal an actual situation may be, we find fault with it and soon begin to resent it. Yet within your situation now there?s a precious, nay, priceless, gift. It deserves appreciation.
what the heck is that gift i have no idea. unless it’s the free trip to the US courtesy of mumsie.
When it comes to leading us to believe, Cainer has a lot to answer for … !
Have a safe trip, mein freund.
That’s the creepy thing about trips. You never know how you’re gonna come back. But I love em all the same.
Happy sojourning!
Wena - I think what Cainer is saying in a general way, which is something that most religions preach anyway, is to value what you already have and to not to covort something that you don’t yet have. Give thanks for what you have been blessed and ask not to be blessed in a particular way.
dotsha - whether you subscribe to horoscopes or not, the great thing about Cainer is that he (usually) manages to put a positive or light-hearted spin on things. There’s always a silver-lining. And if not, he’s always fun to read!
Ash - you need to get Meesh to go on a holiday. She needs one. Badly!
Didn’t you say Singapore had cuter guys?!? Bring back photos!!!
Hiatus
No, not another attempt at slacking off my blog, nor is it an attempt at sulking. I’m leaving. Tomorrow. Which is why I’m at work. Tonight. Jikon has left, which means it’s only 24 more hours before I follow suit….
Jikon: Roger that, will try to put something together for her, hehehe.
Enjoy your weekend!
have a safe trip babe.
Have fun Jikon!
Sorry I couldn’t come with you, although at this point there is nothing else I’d rather do than to check out cuties, drink coffee and chit chat with you
