Will Cathay Pacific do it again?
After weeks of separation and a delay in travel plans (thanks to a health scare), MJT is expected to arrive in Seoul this evening for the beginning of a 2-week holiday (cum-work for me) through three countries. I have been looking forward to this moment for the longest time. I can’t describe to you how much this means to me other than to say that six-weeks of fieldwork has emotional and physical effects. For the past week or so, I have felt as if I have been living in a very inflated pressure-cooker and I’ve had a slight break-out of acne. Matt will know perfectly well what I have been going through based on our experiences last year.
However, as I am writing this, I have a suspicion that Cathay Pacific will botch up this reunion royally. In fact, if my experience with Cathay Pacific is anything indication, they will certainly fuck it up.
As I am writing this, it is now 1440H in Hong Kong. MJT’s flight from Sydney (CX110) was scheduled to arrive in Hong Kong at 1450H. I just checked Hong Kong International Airport’s flight information system: it states that CX110 is now estimated to arrive at 1603H. MJT has a connecting flight to Seoul/Incheon (CX416) that is scheduled to depart Hong Kong at 1640H.
So here’s the question: will Cathay Pacific, supposedly one of the world’s best airlines, do it again? Will they royally fuck up travel plans of passengers with connecting flights yet again? Will they do a two-in-a-row for me?
You will recall, if you had read this earlier post, that when I travelled with Cathay Pacific almost six weeks ago, my flight from Kuala Lumpur had arrived 30 minutes later than scheduled and I was shoved onto a later flight from Hong Kong to Seoul/Incheon. Well… CX416 is the last Cathay Pacific flight out of Hong Kong to Seoul/Incheon.
Maybe the question isn’t whether Cathay Pacific will fuck up MJT’s flight plans but how well they will fuck it up.
Stay tuned.

Hopefully they didn’t! :O Didn’t think that Cathay Pacific was that bad! I had some fine flights to HK with them.
